Double click any photo in the library to open it. In the toolbar, click 'Edit.' Alternatively, select the photo you want to edit and press Command + Return to open the photo in the Edit view. In the toolbar, click a middle tab to reveal the editing tools such as Filters, Adjust, and Crop. With iPhoto, you can remove unwanted portions of an image by cropping with iPhoto's image editing tools. The first step in any editing job is to select the image you want to fix in the Viewer. Then click the Edit button on the iPhoto toolbar to switch to the Edit mode controls. Now you're ready. The free LibreOffice, which is purposely designed to replace MS Office, has a dedicated graphics (Draw) application within it that you may find beneficial for image manipulation. I also use the OS X native, open source GIMP, and recently purchased Affinity Designer from the OS X App Store. To make a crop selection, simply click and drag across the image surface. A selection box will show up with 'handles' that you can then further click and drag to fine tune your crop box: I tend to crop pretty tightly to avoid background distractions and ensure that the main subject is front and center, as you can see.
Pages does not have extensive image manipulation tools. In Pages v5, there are three principal choices for image manipulation:
- Instant Alpha
- Edit Mask
- Shape Image Fill
With the image selected, items 1 and 2 are found on the Format panel's Image tab, and most likely aren't the tools you truly need. With a shape selected, item 3 will be available from the Style tab of the Format panel in the Fill section. You can fill regular, and irregular shapes with a selected image.
The best included tool with OS X for tweaking image content is the Preview application which has lasso, smart lasso, instant alpha, and the ability to add text into an image. Rotate a PDF
In the Preview app on your Mac, open the PDF you want to change.
Do one of the following:
Rotate one page: Click (or use the Touch Bar) to rotate the page to the left. Continue clicking to keep rotating.
To rotate a page to the right, press and hold the Option key and click until you're done rotating the page .
Rotate several pages at once: Choose View > Thumbnails or View > Contact Sheet, select the pages to rotate, then click to rotate the pages to the left.
To rotate the selected pages to the right, press and hold the Option key and click until you're done rotating the pages.
